Robin McMillan joined Ritchie, Davies, Johnson & Stovall, P.C. after working for more than two decades for the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Ms. McMillan’s practice is devoted to civil matters with a focus on appellate work. Ms. McMillan began her career as Junior Law Clerk to the Honorable D. Michael Swiney, Chief Judge of the Tennessee Court of Appeals. She was promoted to Senior Law Clerk in 2011. During her time as a law clerk, Ms. McMillan assisted with more than six hundred civil appeals. Ms. McMillan became the Staff Attorney for the Eastern Section of the Tennessee Court of Appeals in 2019. In her role as the Staff Attorney, Ms. McMillan worked closely with the four judges in the Eastern Section to manage the Court’s motion practice and assisted with all stages of appeals.

Ms. McMillan received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee College of Law where she served as an Articles Editor on the Tennessee Law Review Board, was a member of the National Moot Court team, and was a student member of the Hamilton S. Burnett American Inn of Court. Ms. McMillan graduated magna cum laude from Florida Atlantic University, where she was a member of the Golden Key Honor Society, with an undergraduate degree in English.

Ms. McMillan is a former Board Member-at-Large of the American Bar Association Council of Appellate Staff Attorneys. She co-presented with the Honorable Thomas R. Frierson, II a continuing legal education program offered by the Knoxville Bar Association titled “Best Practices for Appellate Advocacy” wherein she spoke about select rules governing appeals and how to avoid common pitfalls during the appellate process. Ms. McMillan has also served as an adjunct professor, teaching legal research and writing, at the University of Tennessee College of Law.

Ms. McMillan is licensed to practice in Tennessee and in Florida and is a member of the American Bar Association Council of Appellate Lawyers, the Knoxville Bar Association, and the Florida Bar.
